Ana Viana has a background as interior architect with years of experience in both Madrid and London. Her transition to filmmaking dates back to 1997, when she joined Jacobo Rispa as production designer for his futuristic film “On A Perfect Day,” which won the best short film Goya award that year.
Over the next few years Ana Viana continued her work of interior design while participating, under the direction of well-established designers ( Benjamn Fernandez, Patrizia Von Brandestan ) in the art departments of numerous film projects, where she developed of her own artistic voice and approach to production design.
In 2004 she was offered a place at the National Film Television School (NFTS), where she completed a Master of Arts in Production Design by the Royal College of Arts. She was awarded a scholarship from Universal Pictures 2004/06, and was also the recipient of a Spanish Ministry of Culture grant offered to promising budding film professionals between 2004/06.
Ana Viana has since worked as production designer in several awarded features, short films, commercials and music videos for some of the finest directors. She has also been part of international art departments, including the following film productions:
"The Sea Inside" (dir. Alejandro Amenabar, OSCAR awarded Best Foreign Language Film 2005).
"Kingdom of Heaven" (dir. Ridley Scott)
"Goya's Ghosts" (dir. Milos Forman)
"Intruders" (dir. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo)
Ana Viana currently lives in London. She continues to develop her own style and would consider new, interesting and challenging projects that share her filmmaking vision.
